DAISY EDGAR-JONES SHARES HAPPY GLASTONBURY PHOTO WITH “NORMAL PEOPLE” COSTAR PAUL MESCAL

The pair starred as Marianne and Connell in the beloved Hulu drama.

Marianne and Connell, together again.

On Monday, Daisy Edgar-Jones posted an Instagram photo set commemorating her time spent at Glastonbury Festival in England over the weekend. While her snapshots taken at the music festival featured several other celebrities (including Saoirse Ronan and Shania Twain), it was one of her and Normal People costar Paul Mescal that quickly caught the attention of fans of the Hulu series.

The pair, who were catapulted into stardom after the drama was released in 2020, can be seen smiling and holding drinks in the photo, with Mescal’s arm thrown over Edgar-Jones’ shoulder.

Based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Sally Rooney, the series followed the complicated relationship between Marianne (Edgar-Jones) and Connell (Mescal), two classmates who fall in and out of love over the course of their young adult lives. Mescal earned his first Emmy nomination for his performance that same year.

Offscreen, Edgar-Jones and Mescal's friendship is still going strong. The Glastonbury photo isn't a rarity — the costars often post photos of one another. In 2022, they attracted attention for a photo showing them in coordinating Fleabag Halloween costumes. Edgar-Jones was Fleabag, while Mescal was dressed as the Hot Priest.

After teasing they had "news to share" on Instagram in late May, the pair reunited for a special charity screening of the series in London on June 16, where Mescal confessed that he believes that their characters will one day find their way back to each other after going their separate ways.

“My hope for those characters has changed as it’s come along,” he explained, per video footage taken at the event. “I keep landing on the fact that I think the connection that they have on that show when you watch for 12 episodes kind of feels like… spiritual to me.”

He continued, “Like, you look at it and I feel like no matter what’s gonna happen with them — they will probably fall in and out of it again — but ultimately when the crows come back to nest… I feel like they will land into each other. In my head, that’s what they’re doing.”

The pair have both enjoyed professional success in the years since Normal People, too. Edgar-Jones starred in another book-to-film adaptation in 2022's Where the Crawdads Sing, fought off a cannibal boyfriend played by Sebastian Stan in 2022's Fresh, and is set to star opposite Glen Powell in the upcoming Twisters sequel.

Meanwhile, Mescal was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in the 2022 film Aftersun, and broke everyone's hearts in 2023's All of Us Strangers alongside Andrew Scott. He'll next step into the arena in Ridley Scott's Gladiator II, releasing this fall.
