ELLEN DEGENERES SPARKS BACKLASH AS SHE CANCELS SHOWS WITHOUT OFFERING EXPLANATION

Ellen DeGeneres has pulled the plug on four shows from her 'Ellen's Last Stand... Up Tour'.

The 66-year-old funnywoman has scrapped performances in Dallas on July 10, San Francisco on July 21, Seattle on July 23, and Chicago on August 11, as per a notice on the Ticketmaster website.

The firm relayed to customers: "Event Canceled. Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event. You don't need to do a thing. We'll issue a refund to the original method of payment used at time of purchase, as soon as funds are received from the Event Organizer. It should appear on your account within 14-21 days."

They added: "Please Note: If the tickets were transferred to you, the refund will go to the fan who originally purchased the tickets from Ticketmaster. (sic)" This news comes as Ellen is set to take the stage at Denver's Paramount Theatre on Monday, July 8.

Following the announcement, fans on social media were quick to speculate on the cancellations. One Twitter/X user wrote: "Probably didn’t sell well because people know she is a cruel bully," while another said: "Good riddance."

The star launched her tour earlier this year, where she jests about being "kicked out of show business". In April, Ellen claimed she was once the "most hated person in America".

The chat show host faced allegations of a "toxic" environment on the set of her long-standing 'Ellen DeGeneres Show' in 2020, which eventually led to the show's conclusion in May 2022 after 19 seasons. She took a break from the limelight after the final episode aired, but made a comeback to public life in April with a stand-up gig at the Largo in Los Angeles, California.

Ellen confessed to the crowd, "I got kicked out of show business. There's no mean people in show business ... [I became the] most hated person in America... the hate went on for a long time and I would try to avoid looking at the news."

"The 'be kind' girl wasn't kind. That was the headline."
