BBC RADIO 2 PRESENTING SHAKE-UP CONFIRMED JUST DAYS AFTER ZOE BALL’S EMERGENCY

BBC Radio 2’s latest presenting shake-up has been confirmed just days after Zoe Ball’s emergency health scare.

Gaby Roslin is taking over the breakfast show until Monday July 8, as the 53-year-old enjoys some time off after co-hosting the Glastonbury Festival coverage on the BBC. Gaby confirmed she would be taking over the reins of the show for the next week, as listeners were left confused over Zoe’s absence. However, it was later explained that the Radio 2 star was taking some much deserved annual leave after watching her son Woody, who she shares with ex-husband Norman Cook, make his debut at Worthy Farm over the weekend.

Zoe returned on Monday to share behind-the-scenes gossip on her Radio 2 show, but was absent on Tuesday, with Gaby filling in. It’s not the first time the 59-year-old has been called upon to cover Zoe’s breakfast show, as earlier this year, the DJ took time off after her mum Julia was diagnosed with cancer.

Just weeks after sharing the devastating news of Julia’s health battle, Zoe announced her beloved mother had passed away in April, and Gaby shared the news with breakfast show listeners. “It's a horrible, awful time and I know so many of you have been through this time, losing a parent, losing a loved one,” she said.

Zoe recently shared an embarrassing health scare with listeners, just days before she travelled to Glastonbury to co-present the BBC’s extensive coverage. She said she was on a video call with her brother, when she began flossing her teeth, and noticed one of them was missing. “I start flossing my teeth. So this front tooth, I knocked that out when I was very, very young - and then this one [the one next to it] I also knocked out so I'm talking to Nick and I've got the floss and it caught on the back of my tooth, it pings across the room and then the other one,” she explained.

“And I’m in my dressing gown that's not tied, half my boobs hanging out, going, ‘I’ve got to go!’. I'm scraping around, I've not got my glasses on, I can't find the tooth, ‘where's the other one gone?’ I thought I was going to swallow it,” Zoe exclaimed, as she revealed she sought out an emergency dentist to get her dental issue fixed.
