THIS MORNING'S DERMOT O'LEARY BAGS NEW JOB WORLDS AWAY FROM ITV SHOW

Dermot O'Leary is diving into an exciting new project this year.

ITV viewers have grown accustomed to see him front This Morning every Friday, alongside co-host Alison Hammond, ten years after his first appearance on the breakfast program as a stand-in presenter for Phillip Schofield.

But another project has been added to Dermot's long list as the TV star is set to front a pilot episode of a brand new show named The Talent Test for a "major TV network."

While details for the programme are being kept under wraps, the X Factor host will be recording the pilot at the Hackney Empire on Thursday, July 11, and audience tickets are available online.

A teaser for the show has promised "exciting evening of talent." The Daily Mirror has reached out to ITV for comment.

This comes after The Sun reported Dermot was developing a food-and-drink themed travel show for ITV, where he flies solo to explore Ireland, the homeland of his parents, Maria and Sean, who moved to England in 1968.

A source told The Sun that, although he was born and raised in Colchester, Essex, Dermot was "very proud" of his Irish heritage: "Dermot has always been incredibly close to his parents and very proud of his Irish heritage, having spent many a summer holiday back in the Emerald Isle."

The insider continued: "The show would also see him explore another of his great loves — food and drink. And modern Ireland has plenty of both. It’s also a cheeky chance to drop in on his parents while he’s over there."

Dermot has recently left viewers perplexed as he was replaced by ITV co-star Josie Gibson on This Morning, prompting Alison Hammond to explain he'd taken a well-deserved holiday from hosting.

Alison said at the time: "Just so you know, Dermot's on holiday this week, he deserves it. But you [Josie] are my Louise to my Thelma, my partner in crime. Josie Gibson!"

Dermot's absence from the show came as the 51-year-old presented Soccer Aid the previous Sunday alongside Alex Scott. The charity matched returned earlier this year and took place at Stamford Bridge with a string of famous faces joining forces to raise funds for UNICEF.
