'TEAMMATES ARE ASKING WHAT'S HAPPENING': SHREYAS IYER REVEALS 'HAVOC' IN KKR DRESSING ROOM

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) produced yet another dominating show to inch closer to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 knockouts. On Sunday, the Shreyas Iyer-led side defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 98 runs at the Ekana Stadium. The win put them on the top of the points table with 16 points and the best Net Run Rate (NRR) of +1.453.

The Knights have been pretty consistent this season but not their skipper in winning the coin toss. Iyer lost his eighth toss in 11 games but that did not a have bearing on the team’s performance as KKR amassed 235 for six after being put in to bat by LSG. In reply, the visitors shot out KL Rahul & Co for 137 to continue their march towards the play-offs.

The same has been the discussion in the KKR dressing room but Iyer is happy until his team is winning the games.

“The last 6 matches in the dressing room there has been havoc, teammates are coming in and asking, ‘Skip what’s happening, we are losing tosses’, but we are winning games that’s what matters,” said Iyer at the post-match presentation.

“We had a great start in the powerplay. A lefty-righty combination makes things difficult for the opposition. It’s all about the freedom, to go out and express themselves. We want to go out and be positive whatever the situation is, sometimes it doesn’t work out but sometimes it does,” he added.

After losing the toss on Sunday, KKR were put in to bat first but they became the first team to cross the 200-run mark at the Ekana stadium. Proving his worth with the willow once again, Narine (81 off 38 balls) went on a six-hitting spree, blasting seven maximums and six fours to take the visitors to 235/6.

Chasing an imposing total, LSG batters had to go from the word go but the hosts found it hard to get the big shots and were eventually bundled out for 137 in 16.1 overs.
