TAYLOR SWIFT GETS HER OWN CITY IN GERMANY AMID ERAS TOUR

ALBAWABA - In celebration of her recent Eras Tour, Taylor Swift fans (Swifties) changed the name of a whole city in Germany from Gelsenkirchen to 'Swiftkirchen'.

Take in mind that the change in question is only temporary and will only last during Swift's Eras Tour.

Gelsenkirchen's mayor Karin Welge wrote in a statement on Tuesday, Jul. 2, 2024, "The city of Gelsenkirchen is looking forward to welcoming U.S. mega-star Taylor Swift and the tens of thousands of Swifties who are expected to attend the three concerts in the arena from July 17th to 19th."

She added, "It’s a great idea to temporarily rename Gelsenkirchen to ‘Swiftkirchen’, so I’m particularly pleased that you can experience the short-term ‘renaming’ of Gelsenkirchen live and up close in Gelsenkirchen today."

As mentioned above by Weldge, the concert will run from Jul. 17th to 19th. The change came from a swiftie named Aleshanee Westhoff who opened up a petition for changing the city's name to "Swiftkirchen," as reported by The Wrap.

The mayor shared her happiness that "Taylor Swift, currently the most successful singer in the world" will be performing in Gelsenkirchen. She added, "International attention will therefore be back on our city."

In celebration of the matter, the city Taylor Swift received a "Walk of Fame stone" a tram, and a "Taylor World" party.
