'KEY' TO GEORGE AND AMAL CLOONEY'S HAPPY 10-YEAR MARRIAGE AS PAIR 'LIVE SEPARATE LIVES'

George and Amal Clooney have reportedly kept their decade-long marriage thriving by being "independently successful", according to an insider. The couple, who were recently spotted enjoying a romantic lunch date in Saint-Tropez, are said to lead "incredible separate lives" while still sharing the same home with their six-year-old twins.

Speaking to Heat Magazine, a source claimed: "One of the big reasons Amal and George work so well together is because they're independently successful and secure in their individual fields."

They added that the couple also have excellent nannies, who are a huge help with juggling parenthood and their busy careers. "Most days they get together in the evening for dinner and a catch-up, but if they need to work into the night or head off to a business meeting, that's not something they sweat about," the source added.

The insider went on to say that the couple's arrangement of living "separate lives" under one roof is an "open joke" among their friends, but they are content with their set-up.

The Mirror has reached out to representatives for the couple for comment. Hollywood star George and Human Rights lawyer Amal first crossed paths in 2013 and tied the knot in a grand ceremony in Venice, Italy, less than a year later, reports the Express.

In 2017, they welcomed twins Alexander and Ella Clooney, who are now six years old.

George has opened up about his parenting journey in various interviews and in 2021, he told The Guardian: "We have a nanny four days a week and the rest of the time it's just us. And during lockdown it was just us for a full year!

"I felt like my mother in 1964, doing dishes and six loads of laundry a day."

On the WTF with Marc Maron podcast, George also revealed that he and Amal had to cut back on their work commitments to focus on their twins. "We're working a lot, both of us," he admitted.

"She's working a tremendous amount as well. It doesn't mean we don't do a job... but we also have to make sure we're spending less time behind a computer or going on locations so that we can [be with our kids]."

For many years, the actor was adamant that he didn't want children until he met Amal.

He previously confessed that he fell head over heels for the lawyer and knew from then on that "everything was going to be different".

It is believed that the couple met through a mutual friend at George's home in Italy and after several months of emailing each other, they finally went on their first date in London.

Less than a year into dating, he proposed after realising "fairly quickly" that she was the one he wanted to be with for life.
