MARK WRIGHT SAYS HIS 'MISTRESS HAS STEPPED IN' AS MICHELLE KEEGAN FILMS AWAY FROM HOME

Mark Wright has revealed how he spends his nights at home alone without Michelle Keegan - joking that his "mistress" steps in and takes his wife's place in their bed.

The former TOWIE star, 37, and actress Michelle, also 37, tied the knot in 2015 and have been blissfully happy ever since, despite having to navigate their romance at a distance due to Michelle's successful career taking her all over the world.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Mark poked fun at how things go down in their luxury mansion during Michelle's absence. Sharing a snap of himself tucked up in bed watching TV, Mark revealed a four-legged friend acts as his mistress while Michelle work's away.

"Wife being away for the night, means the mistress steps in," Mark joked as he captioned an adorable picture of his pet chihuahua Pip snuggled up in his bed covers. He then went on to share more snaps and video clips of little Pip, as he took the pooch out for a spot of lunch at a local pub before returning home to laze on the sofa.

Earlier this year, Michelle seemingly shared a strong message for those who criticise her marriage to the reality TV star. Back in March, the award-winning was busy filming in Australia, with Mark joining her as she got stuck into filming the second series of BBC's Ten Pound Poms.

Mark was by his wife's side as she shot the BBC series, even sharing sunny snaps from Bondi Beach on social media. The pair didn't waste any time and hit the golf course mere hours after their Aussie touchdown. Michelle has been candid about the strains on their relationship due to work commitments abroad, describing it as "tough" to be away from each other.

Before Mark jetted back to Blighty, leaving Michelle to crack on with her latest TV gig, the actress fired off a post seemingly aimed at naysayers who have something to say about their often long-distant relationship. Posting to Instagram, Michelle shared a quote from Hollywood's Reese Witherspoon: "The sooner you figure out that other people's opinions of you are none of your business, and it literally doesn't matter what they think of you, you become free. Totally free."

Approaching a decade of marriage, the duo have often spoken about the challenges of juggling their hectic lives. "People said how did you deal with it and stuff. Thank God for FaceTime and things like that," Michelle previously shared on The Jonathan Ross Show, reflecting on the long-distance aspect of their romance. "You're on a countdown the whole time to just get home. I had six months off when I went home, so I went to America."

Michelle also opened up about the secret to her successful long-distance relationship with Mark on Ferne Cotton's Happy Place podcast, saying: "That's the thing - we're not the first to it. And it is a job thing." She went on to discuss how they manage their time apart: "I had like two months alone but then he'd come out and stay with me for six weeks. And it's just having and finding that time for each other. I think that's the main key, but also letting us have our freedom to do what we wanna do career-wise."

The former Coronation Street actress has seen her star rise even further after her performance in the Netflix series Fool Me Once, catching the eye of Hollywood bigwigs and being swamped with scripts for upcoming roles. Teasing a potential move to the US in a recent chat, Michelle admitted she's torn between chasing the dream job or staying close to her hubby and family, confessing the choice has left her feeling "stressed".
