NINETIES R&B STAR, 46, HAS NOT AGED IN 27 YEARS DESPITE SUFFERING HEARTBREAKING TRAGEDY

Nineties R&B icon LeMisha Grinstead has barely aged a day in 27 years.

Despite her legendary career being marred by tragedy, the 46-year-old singer continues performing around the world to this day.

Back in 1993, 16-year-old LeMisha’s dreams came true when she was scouted along with her sisters - 13-year-old identical twins Irish and Orish - by American standup star Sinbad. The siblings formed a girl band - originally called Sweeter Than Sugar - and were then entered into a music competition by their new mentor.

The youngsters were later signed to a music label - that added a fourth member, Amelia Cruz - and renamed the group 702, after their hometown Las Vegas’s telephone area code. The band rose to prominence - selling over 4 million records worldwide - and became best known for their iconic female empowerment tracks such as Where My Girls At? and This Lil Game We Play.

In 1998, the band’s collaboration with Missy Elliott and Magoo on the R&B anthem Beep Me 911 saw them crack the UK Top 40.

However, prior to them releasing their debut album, things started to get messy. Music moguls decided to split the sisters up, removing Orish from the group, along with Amelia, and replacing them with Kameelah Williams and Tiffany Villarreal.

In 1996, Tiffany left the group after just six months, not even managing to finish the recording of the album. Kameelah followed suit years later in 2001 but returned to the band a year later.

In 2005 - after releasing a total of 3 studio albums and 14 singles - the band split and went their separate ways. However, LeMisha and her sisters, Irish and Orish, continued to make music and perform together - until the family were struck by a double tragedy.

In 2008, Orish died aged just 27 years old, after suffering kidney failure. Nine years later Irish and LeMisha reformed the band and began touring together for the first time in 15 years.

However, in December 2022, Irish suddenly announced she was taking time away from music for health reasons. Less than one year later, LeMisha announced her sister had died at just 43 years old, saying that she was “finally at peace”.

Despite her tragic losses, LeMisha continues to perform and will be performing - along with Kameelah - on the Queens of RnB tour across the US this year.
