JADE THIRLWALL SHARES DEVASTATING IMPACT OF LITTLE MIX SPLIT AFTER 'GOING DOWN'

Jade Thirlwall has teased that she had been "going down with the ship" when it came to Little Mix parting ways, with her suggesting that she was the "biggest fan" of the group.

The singer-songwriter, 31, is set to release her awaited debut solo single Angel of My Dreams later this month. It comes following her bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 32, and Perrie Edwards, 30, having released their own music.

Little Mix - which also included Jesy Nelson originally, prior to her departure in 2020 - are on hiatus at the moment. The trio's most recent single, No, was released back in 2021 and their latest tour then took place the following year. Ahead of her first single as a solo artist, Jade has suggested that she hadn't wanted to part ways when they did two years ago. She teased in a recent interview that she had asked for "just one more song" together before the hiatus.

Speaking to BEAT magazine, she agreed that it felt "weird" at first when they took the break. Jade recalled that the morning after their last show, she saw "nothing" in her diary and expressed concern, as her life had been "mapped out" for over a decade after winning the X Factor in 2011.

Jade shared: "Out of all the girls, I was the one that was going down with the ship, like, 'just one more song!' I was obsessed with the band. I really do think I was Little Mix's biggest fan, so the thought of letting that go was really hard."

Asked about being the last member of the group to go solo, she told the outlet that she's "happy" to be "taking that spot". Jade said that she "wanted the most time" to work on her music and who she's "going to be" as a solo artist. She added that it "just happened" that she has become the final member to release their own music. Jade however said that it's been "exciting" watching her bandmates release singles and suggested there was an "unspoken rule".

Jade said that when they first began working on their own projects, there was an "unspoken rule" of "just letting each other get on with it," after having been "joined at the hip" for years. She added that they "knew without saying it" that they would each have to "learn how to survive" on their own.

Teasing what to expect from her album, Jade said that she thought it would be "pretty cool" if it sounded like an "experiment of finding what [her] sound is". She added that the "main concepts" of the album are her experiences in the industry, her relationship with Jordan Stephens and "finding" herself again.

Following Little Mix's hiatus, Leigh-Anne released her debut solo single, Don't Say Love, last year and earlier this year Perrie launched her solo career with the single Forget About Us. Their former bandmate Jesy released her debut solo single, Boyz, which featured Nicki Minaj, back in 2021.
