VETERAN ACTRESS SMRITI BISWAS PASSES AWAY AT 100 FOLLOWING AGE-RELATED AILMENTS

In a shocking turn of events, legendary actress Smriti Biswas passed away following age-related ailments. According to PTI, the actress died at her residence in Maharashtra's Nashik city. The actress was famous for her work in a number of Hindi, Marathi and Bengali films. 

Smriti Biswas Dies At 100

Film Heritage Foundation took to its official Instagram account and informed about Smriti Biswas’ demise. The post read, “FHF was deeply saddened to hear of the passing away of yesteryear actress Smriti Biswas yesterday. Smriti Biswas, who celebrated her centenary in February this year, was one of the most vivacious and attractive actors in the 1940s and 50s, often playing spirited vamps, parallel or second lead heroines in films.”

Smriti Biswas had a diverse and prolific career in the Indian film industry, having worked in numerous Hindi, Marathi, and Bengali movies. Her journey in cinema began at a very young age, as she started her career as a child artist. Over the years, she collaborated with some of the most illustrious filmmakers of her time, including Guru Dutt, V. Shantaram, Mrinal Sen, Bimal Roy, B.R. Chopra, and Raj Kapoor.

Her talent and versatility were evident as she performed alongside iconic actors such as Dev Anand and Kishore Kumar, as well as many other notable artists. Smriti Biswas's contributions to the film industry were significant, and she left a lasting impression with her performances.

In 1960, Smriti decided to step away from the limelight and retire from acting after marrying film director S.D. Narang. This marked a new chapter in her life, away from the bustling world of cinema.
