KALKI 2898 AD BOX OFFICE: PRABHAS FILM REGISTERS SUPERB EARNINGS, CROSSES RS 400 CRORE
Nag Ashwin's sci-fi thriller Kalki 2898 AD is enjoying an impressive run at the box office. Starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone, the movie had record-breaking earnings in the first weekend of its release.

Nag Ashwin's visual extravaganza has garnered much praise for its VFX and action sequences. Released on June 27, the film earned over Rs 1.9 billion worldwide on its first day, making it the biggest box office opener of 2024.
The movie continues to earn remarkable numbers on days 2 (Friday) and day 3 (Saturday) of the release. According to sacnilk.com, the film earned Rs 57.6 crore (Rs 576 million) on Friday and Rs 64.5 crore (Rs 645 million) on Saturday in the domestic market across languages. The movie currently stands at Rs 217.4 crore (Rs 2.1 billion), with the maximum numbers coming from Telugu.
In the Telugu version, the movie has earned Rs 124.3 crore (Rs 1.2 billion), followed by Hindi (Rs 71.5 crore), Tamil (Rs 12.8 crore), Kannada ( Rs 1.1 crore) and Malayalam (Rs 6.7 crore). If we look at the movie's worldwide collection, the movie has crossed Rs 415 crore (Rs 4 billion) globally and is now inching towards Rs 500 crore (Rs 5 billion).

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh shared the movie's box office performance in the Hindi belt, sharing that it will cross Rs 100 crore (Rs 1 billion) on Sunday.

With the outstanding box office opening, Kalki 2898 AD is the third biggest Indian opener and has surpassed the collection of Yash-starrer KGF Chapter 2, which made Rs 159 crore (Rs 1.5 billion) on its opening day.
Kalki 2898 AD is behind SS Rajamouli’s films RRR and Baahubali 2. Made on a budget of Rs 600 crores (Rs 6 billion), Nag Ashwin's movie is touted as India's most expensive film.

In her review, WION's Film critic Shomini Sen wrote, "Written by Nag Ashwin, the film has taken huge references from Dune, Star Wars, Mad Max: Fury Road, Blade Runner and even Marvel movies.
